Tubular Drag Conveyor System
Cabelvey offers one of the best ways to move your product.  With a variety of diameters, Cablevey moves your product gently and quickly. Cablevey offers three diameters (2", 4" & 6").  The components seen below are for a 4" system, but the components are similar for any diameter.

Drive System

The 180° DIRECT DRIVE UNIT is the mechanism that pulls the cable through the system. The cable is pulled through the drive unit by a sprocket powered by an electric gearmotor with variable frequency drive. The cable can enter or exit through either port. As there is no tensioning device on this unit, it must be used in conjunction with the 180° Turnaround Unit (C00141A).

Transfer & Connectors

Round stainless steel TUBING provides an enclosure for the cable with conveyed product. The tube attaches to direct drive unit ports, 180º Turn Around, inlet ports, cleanout and discharge ports, mechanical and sweep corners, and take-up assemblies and may be installed on any angle from horizontal to vertical.

Inlets

The MECHANICAL PADDLE INLET is a metering device and transition for product to fl ow from the source (i.e. silo, mill, bag dump station) into the conveying system. Inlet features include a grate, a paddle rotor, an observation window, and a single phase 50/60 HZ 110/220 Volt motor (18 RPM) or a 3-Phase 220/440 Volt motor (18 RPM).

The 45° Pneumatic Slide Gate Valve is a shut off and metering device. This valve controls the product fl ow from the bulk source to the Gravity Inlet and system. The 45° Slide Gate is pneumatically opened and closed. Adjustable stops set the gate’s open position, regulating the product flow into the system. The 45°shut off gate eliminates flat surfaces and allows complete product discharge. The Slide Gate Valve assembly is bolted on top of the Gravity Fill Inlet(C00136SSA) and is positioned over the side the discs enter. This allows the product to fall onto the moving cable and discs and settle to the bottom before exiting the Gravity Fill Inlet. Product is then gently conveyed from the Gravity Fill Inlet into the closed tubing without product damage or excessive pull on the cable.

Discharge Components

The Pneumatic Discharge Valve is used as the transition from the tube to the desired discharge location. It is equipped with a 180 degree air actuator which positions an inner tube to allow product to be conveyed through the valve or rotates the tube to allow product to be discharged out of the bottom of the valve. Multiple valves may be joined end to end or located throughout the conveyor system.

Support Components

The FLOOR STAND TUBE SUPPORT is used with the 180° Direct Drive Unit and the 180° Turnaround Unit. The tube support assembly uses U-bolts to clamp the parallel conveyor tubes a set distance apart and to support them from the floor or a base pad.

The SUSPENDED TUBE SUPPORT is used with the 180º Direct Drive and 180° Turnaround Units. The tube support assembly uses U-bolts to clamp the parallel conveyor tubes a set distance apart. The support assembly is to be used on conveyor tubes positioned horizontally, vertically or at any angle in between and suspends them with cables or

threaded rods.

The steel TEARDROP HANGER supports the 4 in. (10.16 cm) steel tubing. The tube hanger may be suspended from a chain, cable or threaded rod and the tube is free to slide within the tube hanger for conveyor positioning.

The FULL CIRCLE U-BOLT attaches to the 4 in. (10.16cm) steel sweep corner and may be suspended from a chain, cable or threaded rod.

Turn Around

The 180° Turnaround Unit must be part of every conveyor that uses Drive Unit. The Turnaround unit serves as the automatic cable tension take up on the slack side of the conveyor circuit. It also serves to complete the conveyor circuit by turning the cable 180° in a multi-corner circuit conveyor and a parallel tube conveyor. If the cable tension becomes too high (cable is too tight) or if the slack becomes excessive (cable is too loose), an electrical limit switch shuts off the electric motor..

Corner Unit

The MECHANICAL CORNER is used to alter the

direction of cable travel by 90 degrees. It can be bolted to a Direct Drive Upper Funnel (140154) and used as a discharge point, or it can be used in the empty returning section of a system. A bearing mounted idler wheel with

teeth supports the conveyor cable, thus reducing the cable drag in the system.

The Mechanical Corner can only be used in an EMPTY section

Inspection

An INSPECTION TUBE installed in the product conveying line permits the product to be

viewed as it is being conveyed. The fill level of the conveyed product may be monitored and adjusted to an optimum level. Also, the condition of the cable and discs may be observed.

Cleaning Components

The Stainless Steel Cleanout Disc is used to clean the tubing inside walls. The disc functions as a scraper cleaning the inside walls preventing product build-up.
These discs may be easily added to the cable as needed because the cable does not have to be cut in the assembly process.

The Cleanout Disc is used to wipe the inside walls of the tubing. It is made of a urethane disc measuring 4 ¼” in diameter. Because it is larger than the inside diameter of the tube, it is able to move loose product that would settle inside tubes and sweep corners.
The Air Jet is an accessory used for cleaning off the discs while the system is in operation. The Air Jet assembly is most commonly attached to the flared entry port in the drive unit, though it may be attached to the exit port or both ports. This component should be attached and regulated by the facility’s pneumatic system.
The Cleanout Section is installed in the conveyor line above the product delivery location. As the discs push product into the Cleanout Section, a 24-inch (60.96cm) long by 5-inch (12.70cm) wide opening in the bottom of the Cleanout Section permits the product to free fall out of the conveyor. To completely empty the system of all product being conveyed, the cable discs slide up and drop off a short plastic block. This action produces a side-to-side vibration in the cable and discs which shakes product off the cable and disc shoulders and out of the conveyor.
